Harman and AMX mark acquisition at InfoComm

WORLD: No sooner had the ribbon been cut, marking the onset of Infocomm 2014, that Harman International held a joint press conference with AMX to announce their acquisition. AMX CEO and president Rashid Skaf and Harman International’s executive vice president Blake Ausburger jointly made the announcement on the AMX booth.

‘This acquisition gives Harman an entry into video and will provide Harman with a greater share of the install market,’ announced Mr Ausburger. ‘There’s a lot more to this than just control devices as AMX have a strong team with technical capabilities. Harman are very strong in a number of vertical markets in addition to the emerging BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India and China) markets geographically, and we can now offer control delivery solutions in these sectors. Ahead of us is a powerful innovation pipeline for which our combined assets cannot be matched by our competitors. We can now offer operations managers unique capabilities in which to interface their control solutions.’

Mr Skaf replied by stating: ‘AMX is the global technology leader in enterprise control and automation as well as audio and video switching, distribution, scheduling, content management and control. With the addition of AMX to the Harman portfolio, we can now provide audio, video, lighting and automation solutions to our combined customers. As part of Harman, we are now stronger and can expand our ecosystem into new verticals such as event management, broadcast and stadiums. This really is a case where 1+1=3.’
