Harman brand solution for Zhulian mega auditorium

THAILAND: An integrated Harman brand solution has been installed at Zhulian Ltd’s two-storey ‘mega auditorium’ building on its premises in Nontaburi Province, Thailand. Bangkok-based Harman Professional distributor Mahajak Development Co was awarded the audio-visual contract to provide system design, consultancy, equipment supply and installation services.
The 7,000 capacity Royal Grand Ballroom needed a sound system that was capable of delivering high-quality music and speech reinforcement for applications such as sales representative meetings, product presentations, and themed entertainment events. Mahajak responded to the brief by providing a permanently installed JBL VerTec line array system, powered by Crown amplification, under the system management of BSS and dbx digital signal processing.
Overcoming challenges of the venue’s unusual dimensions, difficult line array fixing points, a restricted control room size, as well as insisting upon the necessity to add acoustic conditioning to the building, Mahajak reports that these issues were systematically resolved by working closely with the client.
Nungrutai Sangsawang and Jirayu Nunium, Mahajak’s system design engineering team commented: ‘We made every effort to set out our requirements, and the client agreed to acoustically treat the building. As a result, we have been able to provide a top quality sound system with even dispersion to every seat in the house.’
The main auditorium PA rig now comprises left and right hangs of 12 VerTec VT4888 dual three-way line array elements per side, with eight JBL ASB6128 dual high-powered subwoofers, recessed and arrayed under the stage. To ensure the sound successfully travelled down the auditorium, Mahajak installed a further four JBL AC28/95 compact two-way speakers under the balcony.
Meanwhile, whilst on-stage the performers can use up to six SRX712M floor monitors for their reference sound, whilst a pair of JBL VRX932LA two-way curvature line arrays have been deployed in the foyer.
The entire system is powered by Crown amplification: Twenty four MA5000i modules drive the main system and four MA12000I the subs, whilst XTi 1000’s power other elements of the auditorium sound (including the floor monitors). An additional CDi 4000 and CDi 1000 are assigned to other peripherals, including the entrance hall speakers.
The full installation contract included providing A/V integration and interior LED for the auditorium and additional peripheral areas. From an audio perspective, Mahajak’s solution was to select JBL Control 24’s for the executive area, shop and corridor, whilst Control 26’s were selected for the Diamond Club. Control 28’s now reside in the foyer, Control CRV‘s in the canteen, and CBT 70J’s sit in the main entrance.
‘The client is very satisfied with our system design and quality of sound equipment, as well as our recommended improvements to the acoustics,’ summarised Ms Sangsawang.
