Harman India to focus on training for 2013

INDIA: Harman Professional India recently conducted a series of extensive product training sessions across India, reaching over 200 sound engineers, technical consultants, system integrators and sound rental companies in a span of two weeks. The key objective was to reach customers and end-users in Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Kolkata.
David McKinney, senior director, India operations, Harman Professional used the sessions to discuss Harman India’s plans for 2013. ‘Training, training and more training will be our focus for the year ahead,’ he stated. ‘We have a number of activities in the pipeline which will cover all vertical markets we work in.’
The training programme covered the latest tools in digital mixing, portable audio conferencing and cinema, and included live demonstrations and experience sessions.
The schedule began with a Soundcraft Si Compact training event in Cochin, Kerala, in association with regional channel partner – AVL Marketing. Approximately 65 participants were in attendance, who were given an Si Compact overview and a hands-on Stagebox training session.
‘The training was a first of its kind for the region and the sessions were definitely very informative for the participants,’ commented Azhar Meem, proprietor, AVL Marketing. ‘In particular, they benefitted from the hands-on sessions, and we look forward to more events like this in the future.’
The Si Compact workshop was also extended to professionals in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, attracting 75 participants. Following this, attendees witnessed a demonstration of JBL’s PRX 425, 415, 418S, STX 825, 828S and 812M systems powered by Crown Xti 2 and I-Tech HD 4 x 3500 amplifiers. Concluding the training schedule were further Si Compact sessions and demonstrations of JBL’s PRX 425, 415, 418S, STX 825 and 828S in Kolkata. These sessions were supported by Pro Audio Vision, Harman Professional’s dealer for Hyderabad.
‘The training was conducted and supported by the experienced Harman Professional India team – Sundar Raj, regional sales manager, and application engineers Ashish Barje and Sudarshan Srinivasan,’ said Pro Audio Vision proprietor, Dariya Hussain. ‘They helped us reach out to our customers very effectively.’
‘We find the training and workshops conducted by Harman Professional to be very comprehensive and effective,’ said Devasis Barkataki, director, Ace Acoustics and Audio Video Solutions Pvt Ltd.
Harman India also conducted Soundweb London Level 1 certified training modules for various system integration companies in Bangalore, Chennai and Kerala. The two-day course was conducted by Ashish Bajaj, manager business development, Harman India Professional.
Following this, a cinema systems training event was held in Kolkata, which was conducted by Samir Mistry, application engineer for Harman Cinema Systems India.
‘Going forward we plan to extend training programmes on new launches, including the Soundcraft Si Performer, the portable audio/music industry range and cinema systems, in addition to on-going audio training,’ said Prashant Govindan, sales director, Harman Professional India.
‘We are able to gather feedback on products and systems, address queries on sales and service support and ultimately be closer to the customers and end-users,’ added Ankush Agarwal, director marketing and business development, Harman Professional India.
