CHINA: Shanghai Media & Entertainment Group recently supplied a Harman Professional sound reinforcement solution for The Voice of China’s final at the Shanghai Stadium. Designing the audio system for the TV talent show finale was Jin Shao Gang, who specified a combination of equipment from JBL, Crown and Soundcraft.
In total, 32 JBL VT4889 line array speakers (hung 16 per side) with 20 dual 18-inch VT4880 subwoofers were used as the main PA. Providing further low-end support at the front of the stage were two groups of six cardioid subs, made up of four forward facing and two backward facing enclosures.
In addition, 12 groups of fill speakers were placed along the stadium’s running track with one dual JBL 18-inch sub and four VT4889 three-way line array elements underneath. Meanwhile, 12 JBL SRX712M monitor speakers were used on stage with JBLSRX900 series cabinets providing central stage support.
‘Originally the fill speakers were to be hung on the stadium’s ceiling, but the final configuration’s sound effect was quite satisfactory,’ explained Mr Shao Gang.
Three Soundcraft Vi6 console systems were used for the sound production. ‘The sound source was quite simple, and since there was a live band, we used Crown iTech-9000HD amplifiers,’ furthered Mr Shao Gang.
Liang Bo was announced as The Voice Of China winner, with Wu Mochou taking second place.
