CHINA: Shanghai Feilen Stage Art Engineering Co Ltd has undertaken an audio and lighting project for the annual Yangtze festival in Zhenjiang Shiyezhou. The team opted to use a JBL VTX system with Crown amplifiers.
The 2014 festival saw visitor number in excess of 90,000, with international musicians including Nile Rogers, Luo Dayou, Wu Baj, Jiang Meiqu and many more. The event took place over three stages: Yangtze stage, Golden Mountain stage, and the Rock stage.
For the Yangtze stage the installers used a VTX line array system with 24 V25s used as the main PA system, 12 S28 and four G28 cabinets as a L-M-R subwoofer system, and 16 STX812s as stage monitors. Eight VT4888 were used respectively for front and side fill. A total of 32 Crown IT12000HD amplifiers powered the main VTX arrays, with eight IT6000 driving the stage monitors and two sets of Crown IT4X3500HDs powering the front and side fills speakers.
A VT4889 system formed the backbone for the Gold Mountain stage. A total of 24 4889 cabinets comprised the main PA, with 16 4880 subwoofers providing low-frequency reinforcement and eight VT4888s taking care of front and side fill. For this stage 24 IT2000HD Crown amps powered the 4889 system, eight IT6000s drove the monitors and two sets of IT4X3500HD drove the front and side fills speakers. Additionally, two Soundcraft Vi6 consoles were used on each stage at FOH and for monitoring.
‘Because there were numerous performance bands, the systems needed to be used from morning until night over all five days of the festival,’ explained Vinnie Peng, marketing communication manager for Harman China. ‘Due to the humid weather the equipment was partially covered, but the event was completed without any failures, and several people commented of the fullness of the VTX system.’
