Herman’s Hermits rely on E-V at Club Menai

AUSTRALIA: An Electro-Voice system was used to provide sound reinforcement for a recent Herman’s Hermits performance in Australia. As part of their 50th Anniversary Tour, the event brought them to Club Menai in Sydney's South.

The band has enjoyed notable success over the years with 23 hit singles, 10 hit albums, three major movies and record sales of over 75 million units to their name. At their most successful in the late 1960/70s, the band still continues to average an impressive 200 performances a year.

The main FOH system used comprised of Electro-Voice XI-2123/106F tri-amped enclosures with EVF2151D subwoofers for additional LF extension. Power for the low and mid components of the main speakers was provided by E-V CP2200 amplifiers with CP1200 amps catering for the highs. The subwoofers were powered by E-V Q66s.

Up on the stage, monitoring was provided by PX1122M cabinets – powered by P900RL amps – with a Plasma P1L providing additional monitoring for the drummer. Control for the entire system was provided via E-V’s DX38 system processors.

A selection of the manufacturer’s microphones were also used onstage, including N/D967s for the vocals, Ravens for the guitar amps and N/D868, N/D168, N/D468, RE200 and Cardinal mics for the drums.
