Hi-Tech Audio supplies 7° Brauhaus in Gurgaon

INDIA: Delhi-based Hi-Tech Audio Systems has designed and installed a Harman audio system comprising JBL SRX loudspeakers, Crown amplifiers, a Soundcraft mixer and BSS networked signal processors into 7° Brauhaus, a new Bavarian microbrewery and restaurant in Gurgaon.

The 1,161 sq-m premises in South Point Mall, Gurgaon, features a German microbrewery plant and machinery as an integral part of the interior, where customers can relax and enjoy a selection of beer against a background of musicto suit the mood.

‘Being a corporate hub, Gurgaon is brimming with a heterogeneous mix of people, who like to unwind after a long hectic day, or socialise at the weekend,’ said operating partner Sanjay Mathur. ‘Nowadays, young adults want more than packaged beer. Bottled beer lacks fullness and taste of craft beers produced by good microbreweries.

‘However we understood that good food and drink alone cannot keep a steady stream of customers dropping in everyday. The right ambience, good lighting and music all create the mood to enjoy a relaxing evening.’

This is where Hi-Tech Audio was approached for the project. ‘The challenge, especially from a visual point of view, was to make sure that the technology fitted in with the architecture, décor and all other aspects of the venue,’ continued Mr Sameer, entertainment head at 7° Brauhaus. ‘At the same time, we wanted great sound quality and even coverage. We worked closely with Hi-Tech’s design and technical team, who did a marvellous job.’

Hi-Tech Audio was presented the difficult acoustics of a space which features a 15.8m-high ceiling and glass on three sides. ‘It was a challenging task to design a system which could cater for live performances,’ said Manik Gupta, technical director of Hi-Tech. ‘Since the space was acoustically challenging, we decided to have a distributed sound system with speakers as close to the audience as possible to provide more intelligible sound. We proposed JBL SRX series speakers and subwoofers to be distributed throughout the venue. This enabled us to achieve clear, evenly distributed sound in all listening areas without being too overpowering.’

Four Crown XTI 6002 series amplifiers power the speakers, while a Soundcraft MFXi20 multi purpose mixer with built-in effects provides the system with flexibility for different applications. BSS digital signal processing gives the end user a simple interface to select between multiple sources including mixer, DJ consoles, satellite TV and iPod docking station. The DSP also enables system EQing for different applications such as live sound, disco and background music.
