iLive road-tested on New Zealand’s Got Talent tour

NEW ZEALAND: An Allen & Heath iLive-T was recently used for the first leg of auditions for New Zealand’s Got Talent, the country’s version of the popular TV talent contest. The tour saw local PA company Tomcat Production Services road-testing the system on what managing director Andy Tait has described as ‘an audio marathon’.

An iDR-64 MixRack and iLive-T112 control surface were used to manage a total of three FOH systems including the main performance PA, a small distributed speech PA, and the judges’ near field monitors. The stage monitors also fell under the control of the iLive set-up, comprising approximately two to six sends, alongside the audio department shout comms system.

‘NZGT's audition tour comprises 35 to 40 acts a day with practically no sound checks and you are dealing with anything from a 60 piece choir to a singing basset hound,’ explained Mr Tait. ‘The iLive coped with everything I threw at it without a hitch and of course the snapshot function was a life saver - quick and easy. I am now a huge iLive fan and have purchased the system. As the demands of this tour get more complex, I trust that iLive will handle the project easily and gracefully.’

New Zealand’s Got Talent is due to recommence production later this month with Tomcat’s iLive system in use on the show through to the grand final in late November.
