InfoCom & Security Systems installs fully integrated security system into The Star

SINGAPORE: Bosch Security Systems has delivered an integrated security solution for The Star, an iconic multi-purpose building located in the central Buona Vista area in Singapore. The system was designed and installed by InfoCom & Security Systems Pte Ltd, Bosch’s regional partner, and was based on standard network technologies built upon a modular security system concept.
The building has been described as a new architectural landmark, and combines an upscale shopping centre with more than 100 shops and restaurants, named the Star Vista, and a cultural zone named the Star Performing Arts Centre. The Star Vista occupies the lower six levels of the building, while the Star Performing Arts Centre with its 5,000 seat auditorium is located on the upper nine floors.
According to the installer, designing a security environment for The Star was a real challenge. The shopping centre is a busy public environment, and many of the 100 individually operated shops had very different requirements compared to the huge theatre and multi-purpose hall in the events complex. Furthermore, the Star Vista and the Star Performing Arts Centre are owned and operated by two individual companies looking for an integrated solution for the entire development.
The teams designed the modular security system, and because of the use of standardised networking technologies, were able to meet differing needs of the shops while still being combined into one integrated and centrally managed system.
The solution provided includes Bosch’s video surveillance, public address and access control systems, as well as IP-based FlexiDome and Auto-dome cameras throughout the building, all managed and operated through the Bosch Video Management System. The system therefore offers decentralised recording and Intelligent Video Analysis directly from Bosch.
The manufacturer’s Praesideo public address and evacuation system is used to provide background music and voice announcements whilst in regular operation, however, in case of emergency it can also be used as an evacuation system. All these systems were also integrated via Bosch’s Building Integration System (BIS), which enables central management of operations, easing coordination between the two operators of the building.
