InfoComm 2013 opens its doors

WORLD: ‘Collaborate, Communicate, Connect’ is emblazoned in bold letters above the entrance of the vast Orange County Convention Centre (OCCC) for InfoComm 2013. Infocomm 2013 is anticipating some 35,000 attendees to enter through its doors during the three-day event spread across 50,000sq-m of show floor exhibits and special events space.

Prior to the ribbon being cut at 9.00am on Wednesday June 12th, InfoComm had hosted no fewer than 300 educational seminars as part of its Certified Technology Specialist (CTS) programme. The show floor was awash with manufacturers eager to entice incoming visitors to their booths. Amongst them were QSC Audio which debuted its new CXD and PLD Class-D amplifier platforms, EAW which was taking off the wraps of its eagerly awaited Anya system, Mediamatrix extended its reach into boardroom conferencing with the Clara processor and Shure presented its latest Microflex wireless range.

Located in the centre of a hot and humid state, Orlando relies on the vast amounts of air conditioning pumped into the OCCC, allowing visitors to concentrate on being educated with new A/V technology and exhibitors to promote their products to consultants, dealers, distributors, sales representatives and system integrators.

Not that the show floor represents the full picture, as numerous demonstration booths outside attracted full audiences for critical listening in addition to collaborative conferencing in the Unified Collaborative Conferencing Pavilion, the Digital Signage Pavilion and the Lighting and Staging Pavilion.

InfoComm once again exposes attendees to new technologies and ideas, whilst obtaining training and certifications that will benefit them in their workplace through the InfoComm International Certified Technology Specialist (CTS) programme.

‘It’s all about the coming together of participants from the entire value chain in the industry to share with each other what their new products are and what their solutions are,’ commented InfoComm’s CEO and executive director David Labuskes. ‘All of it is about working together, and working together is at the very core of just about everything one does in the industry today. The whole opportunity to enhance the communications and collaborations and put it all together with the connections that you make at an event like that is the core value of the show.’
