Infocomm India opens its doors in Mumbai

INDIA: Mumbai’s overcast skies cleared briefly as an elaborate parade of horses and carriages transported InfoComm dignitaries to the entrance of the Bombay Exhibition Centre to cut the ribbon of the InfoComm India show.

After a successful inaugural event, Richard Tan, executive director of InfoComm Asia Pte Ltd, was optimistic that this year’s three-day event wouldn’t disappoint. ‘It’s a bigger show than last year, up between 10 and 15 per cent, and certainly feedback wise almost everyone we’ve spoken to on this first day has said that they’ve seen a higher quality of visitor on the floor. Once again we invited senior decision makers from the Delhi government to attend the show particularly those from sectors such as infrastructure development, IT, transportation, health care and the military, and it works really well.’

Staff on the Harman Professional booth were kept busy demonstrating a wealth of new products including AKG’s ConferControl, BSS Soundweb Contrio Wall Controllers and for the first time AMX’s Enzo – a collaboration tool and cloud-based presentation and content sharing platform.

Prashant Govindan, director of India operations, welcomed the new member of the family. ‘With the addition of AMX to our portfolio, it gives us a bigger share of the install markets and video, while delivering a total A/V experience for three senses – see, hear and touch.’

Over on the TC Group stand, visitors were able to get a first look at the D Series, Lab.gruppen’s new installation platform. Communications manager Mark Millar was upbeat at the close of day one. ‘It’s been exciting for us to be able to show the latest generation of the dual concentric driver in the CMS 3.0 range,’ he enthused. ‘It’s a product that when packaged with a small and low cost installation amplifier such as Lucia is a really cost effective solution for the Indian market. Visitors know the proprietary Tannoy technology of the dual concentric driver but as we’ve been explaining how the new design works, it’s been encouraging to see how well it’s been received.’

As always with an InfoComm show, a packed workshop, seminar and conference programme was on offer and visitors weren’t disappointed by a very professional looking show floor. The team has clearly listened to feedback from the 2013 show, adjusting both show dates and public opening times. The result appeared to have encouraged more local companies to exhibit for the first time.

A full report of InfoComm Inida will appear in the Nov/Dec 2014 edition of Pro Audio Asia. Infocomm India continues at the Bombay Exhibition Centre until September 19th.
