THAILAND: Having staged exhibitions in Vietnam and Singapore during the past two years, Install Asia/Palme opened its doors at the Impact Exhibition Centre in Bangkok this week. Curiously, organiser Informa opted to host four other exhibitions under the same roof to promote synergies between the construction, green building retrofits, pool and spa and install industries. Whether this worked is open to interpretation, but it certainly spiced up the normal humdrum.
Exhibition director Rosalind Ng was happy with how the first day went. ‘We’ve received a lot of positive feedback and seen many people from outside Bangkok making the journey here,’ she confirmed. ‘Exhibitors have expressed that they are doing good business and we have seen a lot of familiar faces from the region. The Thai market is quite vibrant at the moment and has matured a lot since we last staged a show here six years ago, which has possibly been assisted by the fact that Thailand’s neighbouring countries are experiencing growth at present. Although the impact is based out of town, it hasn’t deterred people coming out to the show. Thailand has always promoted a high level of entertainment and as a result, the show here attracts high levels of interest.’
A workshop and seminar programme enticed many visitors to learn more off the show floor. Although many leading brands were absent, Mahajak (Harman, Shure), Bosch and P Audio (EAW, Mackie, Lab.gruppen, Allen & Heath, Phonic, One Systems) commanded pole positions at the front of the hall.
‘We’ve been busy from the start of the show,’ offered P Audio director Howard Chen. ‘The brands we represent in Thailand are well established and our end of show free prize draw has attracted good numbers.’
Several new products were premiered at Install Asia/Palme with Fuzion Far East exhibiting the new Nexo STM touring system, Bosch promoting the Midas Pro1 console and Acoustic & Lighting showcasing the new RCF TTL column speaker solution. The final two hours of the show allowed the 70dB restriction to be lifted allowing some exhibitors to better demonstrate their audio products. A live band played on the DAS Audio booth significantly boosted by an Aero12a line array system augmented by six LX218CA subwoofers, whilst Singha beers were passed around.
The show continues on Thursday 20th and Friday 21st September.
