Integrated Systems Europe 2012 day two report

WORLD: Integrated Systems Europe 2012, currently taking place at the Rai exhibition centre in Amsterdam, ended its second day on February 1st with numbers described as being at an all-time high. Rumours have also begun circulating of a fourth day being added to the show in 2013 while the Organiser is anticipating a total turn-out of approximately 40,000 visitors by the show’s close.
Despite financial uncertainty still surrounding the European economy, reports from the stands indicate that the show has proven itself as a vehicle for generating new trade. Mike Blackman, ISE managing director, went so far as to declare that the show ‘is once again proving that this region has one of the most diverse, sophisticated and resilient economies in the world. These characteristics are perfectly reflected by the electronic systems integration industry, which has a robustness and dynamism of its own’.
A well-dressed Dan Goldstein, ISE director of marketing, continued the point: ‘It’s not the most rock and roll show in the world, but if you want to come and do business, there is a lot to be done here. We’ve grown very fast and our pro audio exhibitor number is at an all-time high. Our overall exhibitor growth is up 15 per cent, and we have 20 per cent more pro audio exhibitors than we did last year.’
Responding to the rumours of a fourth day being added next year, Mr Goldstein said: ‘We’ll see what our final number is, it’s not being actively debated at the moment, but we’ll see where we go from here after we get the final numbers’.
The number of Asian attendees in Amsterdam also appears to have risen. ‘There are a lot of Asian representatives and distributors here, but mostly from India and Japan,’ reflected William Roddes, vice president of sales for Analog Way, Asia Pacific. ‘I came to ISE as it’s getting bigger than InfoComm. The location is great, because people can easily come from the Middle East and Asia.’
