InterBEE 2012 opens to busy aisles and product launches

JAPAN: InterBEE 2012 opened its doors at the Makuhari Messe on Wednesday November 14th with impressive visitor numbers greeting the show’s first day. While some booths appeared noticeably smaller than in previous years and despite some prominent positions on the show floor having been filled with seating areas, the overall mood of the Japanese broadcast exhibition was buoyant and busy.
Tellingly, attendance at the three-day exhibition has traditionally risen throughout the week, and Peter More, representing Lectrosonics at the show alongside the brand’s distributor Tech Trust, was feeling enthusiastic as a result: ‘It’s been pretty good for a first day but I think the second day will be even stronger,’ he reasoned.
A number of new product launches were awaiting first-day visitors, notably including the world-debut of Yamaha’s new large-format Nuage console for postproduction, and the Japanese market’s first look at Coda Audio’s ViRAY compact line array system, exhibited on the Hibino Intersound booth.
Away from the show floor, meanwhile, Sennheiser Japan hosted a special Japanese launch event for the Digital 9000 digital wireless system. Managing director Sho Kubo enthused that the attendance for the event was beyond Sennheiser’s expectations.
‘There are a few systems in the market already but I know some people have been waiting for Sennheiser,’ he added, explaining that next year’s Japanese digital dividend provides an opportunity for Digital 9000 to establish itself in the Japanese market. ‘We are very confident, we believe that we’re the best, and this is on top of the digital dividend,’ he concluded.
InterBEE 2012 is continuing at the Makuhari Messe until Friday November 16th.
