It's springtime at Sovico

KOREA: Having decided not to exhibit as this year's Koba exhibition, Sovico opted to host a two-day event of its own during the second and third days of the Korean broadcasting show. Christened Sovico Spring, the pro audio supplier and distributor staged its own presentation two subway stops away from the COEX in the Amoris Hall adjacent to Yeoksam station. The private RSVP event welcomed over 400 guests on 25-26 May who witnessed demonstrations, presentations, keynote speeches and educational seminars whilst enjoying the buffet and refreshments on offer in the upmarket venue.

Having declared spring to have sprung, Jay Han of Sovico's planning and marketing team then introduced a Meyer Sound demonstration led by director of international sales Scott Gledhill. The focus of this 90-minute segment was on the Leopard compact line array and 900-LFC subwoofer, while the sessions also explored the newly-launched MJF-208 monitor, Lyon-WXT, MDM-5000 power and signal distribution system, together with MAPP 3D and Compass Go 1.2.0. The powerful discussion and detailed demonstration – including a percussion soloist – certainly enhanced the Californian manufacturer’s recent ‘Feel the Pride’ video.

The afternoon session included QSC Q-Sys, Furman, Barix, Lectrosonics and Neutrik presentations. ‘The Korean market is very important to us,’ declared Lectrosonic’s Jeff More. ‘We enjoy an 80 per cent market share in film production in the USA and have become an industry standard in broadcast. We’ve enjoyed our relationship with Sovico now for eight years and acknowledge the great branding they provide us.’ The foyer area featured exhibits for all the brands represented by Sovico, including Lectrosonics, but guests still had to look hard to find the Super Slight Macro UHF body-pack transmitter. As part of the digital hybrid wireless series, the 66g unit certainly commanded attention. Likewise, Barix with its Audio-over-IP solutions and the latest Neutrik fibre optic-based connections educated all the extended Sovico family guests.

‘We are extremely happy with how Sovico Spring has gone,’ declared Jay Han at its close. ‘We wanted to create a focused event and with the help of our suppliers and we achieved just that. Naturally, we’re looking forward to hosting this platform on an annual basis.’
