iZotope releases Mastering Guide 2015

WORLD: iZotope has released an updated version of its Mastering Guide for 2015 to keep pace with evolving equipment and techniques. The guide is described as a ‘comprehensive resource for everyone who wants to learn more about the mastering process’, and covers mastering basics, EQ tips, dynamics, loudness maximising, stereo imaging, dynamic EQ and more.

The 2015 edition has been revised by iZotope's education director and chief mastering engineer, Jonathan Wyner – also the founder of M Works Mastering studios in the US. Over his 25-year career, Mr Wyner has mastered more than 5,000 releases, with notable credits including Aerosmith, David Bowie, Cream, Aimee Mann, Rahsaan Roland Kirk and Nirvana. He is also a faculty member at Berklee College of Music.

In addition to covering standard mastering topics, the last chapter of the guide provides real-life insights from mastering professionals including Greg Calbi, Adam Ayan, Bob Ohlsson, Scott Hull and Marc-Dieter Einstmann on how they approach mastering and use specific tools. The guide can be downloaded for free as a PDF or as an iTunes e-book.
