JBL serves NSW speciality coffee shop

AUSTRALIA: A BGM system comprising JBL Control 25AV loudspeakers has been installed into speciality café in New South Wales. Located in a former pie factory dating back to the early years of the 20th century, the café required a discreet solution to match its rustic interior design. The installation was carried out by local firm York Entertainment.

Named The Grounds of Alexandria, the café hosts a coffee research and testing facility alongside a restaurant area boasting a home-grown menu, with fresh herbs and vegetables picked daily from the venue’s own garden. Meanwhile, the interior design retains the industrial aesthetic of the original building with black and steel frames, bespoke wooden cabinets and polished white and green subway tiles contrasted against vintage wooden tables and refitted shipping containers.

According to York Antoniou of York Entertainment, it was crucial that the BGM solution blended seamlessly into its surroundings.

‘The venue is divided into four zones: the café, the outside café area, the garden area and the back wall area,’ Mr Antoniou explained. ‘I decided that the JBL Control 25AV was the ideal product as it is compact, lightweight and delivers a good, clear sound. Its invisible mounting system makes it perfect for this project. There are also a couple of JBL Control 23T speakers above the area where they grind the coffee.’

Power is delivered by a Crown CDI1000 and a CDI2000 amplifier with signal processing by a BSS Audio Soundweb London Blu-100. System control is via a Blu-8 wall controller.

Mr Antoniou added: ‘It’s a neat package that works very well. The client is happy so I’m happy.’ JBL products are distributed in Australia by Jands.
