ASIA: Verrex, a global design-build integrator and managed services provider of conferencing, collaboration and presentation technologies, has announced the expansion of its Asia Pacific team with the addition of two new sales roles.

Joseph Mak has joined the company as director of sales, and is responsible for leading a multi-geographic team in delivering A/V solutions to businesses throughout the Asia Pacific region, including Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore and Shanghai.

Meanwhile, Tomi Kallio joins the company as a sales engineer, and is responsible for pre-sales design and engineering support for clients throughout the region. Both Mr Mak and Mr Kallio are based out of Verrex’s Asia Pacific headquarters in Hong Kong and report to vice president of enterprise sales, Bill Chamberlin.

Mr Mak brings over 20 years of technology solutions experience to the role, and has worked in sales, marketing, business development and strategy. Most recently he was the regional business development manager for Crestron, and prior to this he worked at Thomson for 17 years where he undertook a variety of increasingly senior roles in business development, marketing, product management, sourcing and engineering. Mr Mak holds an MBA from OUHK, a Master of science in operations management from Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and is a member of the Hong Kong Institute of Marketing and the Hong Kong Institute of Industrial Engineers. Additionally, he earned his certified technology specialist designation from InfoComm International.

Mr Kallio previously worked as business development manager at ServicePoint Australia, and prior to this he was a senior technician for Spaceage Communications and an A/V repair technician for Audience Motivation. Throughout his career, he has also taken on a variety of freelance engineering contracts. Mr Kallio holds an associate diploma in electrical engineering and an advanced certificate in electronics and communications from North Sydney TAFE.

‘Joseph and Tomi are outstanding additions to our team,’ said Mr Chamberlin. ‘They possess the deep range of regional industry experience to help Verrex expand throughout the Asia Pacific region. They also have the credentials and dedication that will help transform the market by raising the expectations of what a client should expect from their audiovisual partner. We are delighted to welcome them,’ he added.

‘I am proud to be able to show our ongoing commitment to the Asia Pacific market by adding two very talented audiovisual industry experts that will no doubt bring value to the clients we serve,’ said Verrex president and CEO Thomas Berry Jr. ‘Our continued expansion in this region – and all Verrex global regions – reflects the growth of conferencing and collaboration technology adoption by companies around the world. Verrex can deliver these enterprise solutions thanks to the expertise of global team members like Joseph and Tomi,’ he concluded.
