CHINA: Now in its fourth season, Chinese singing competition, I Am a Singer, has called upon loudspeakers from K-Array to provide sound reinforcement for its 500-person studio audience. Broadcast on Hunan TV, contestants perform for the selected audience, and each week the studio audience selects one singer to eliminate, making the in-house PA an integral part of the show.
The K-Array set up includes six KH3 dual 12-inch passive line array speakers from the manufacturer’s Concert Series, split up and flown on either side of the stage and at the back of the auditorium for surround. ‘It fits nicely within the audience area and provides enough sound to cover the whole room without obstructing the audience’s line of sight,’ commented one of the show’s sound designers.
In addition, six KH2 dual 8-inch line array cabinets for the centre channel were placed above the stage to provide full coverage of the wide-stage area. The system will remain in place for the entirety of season four.
