K-array provides monitoring for Chinese New Year Gala

CHINA: K-array supplied the on-stage monitors for the Chinese New Year arts and performance event, which was watched by an impressive 700million people worldwide.

Celebrating the countdown to the Year of the Rabbit, the event used 16 Kobra KK100 line array elements at the front of the stage alongside two 2m high Redline KR200 two way enclosures at the sides, hidden behind drapes. The 1m long Kobras were laid horizontally, end-to-end around the semi-circular front of stage.

Prior to this year, the show had used large on-stage monitors, which reportedly blocked camera and audience sight-lines. Event organisers commented on the fact that the previous low monitoring audio quality had made it difficult for the artists to hear themselves, leading them to opt for an alternative. The K-Array solution was described as ‘near invisible, providing top quality foldback’.

Since it's inception in 1982, the Chinese New Year Gala has become an annual tradition within Greater China.
