KBS opts for Real Sound Lab

KOREA: Fone`Sound recently installed three Real Sound Labs APEQ-2pro acoustic power equalisers in the master control room of the new Korean Broadcasting System (KBS) building hall, where musical events are recorded, mixed and broadcast nationally.
‘Coneq is an ideal solution to have for the monitoring system,’ claimed MunAn Go, the main sound engineer of KBS hall. ‘The imbalance between the left and the right monitor have been one of the major problems in the master control room but with Coneq the balance was greatly improved. Also, due to the confinement of a small space, many mixing studios experience the “booming effect” and you have to ignore this to predict the final mix. This can introduce less efficiency and accuracy of the mix. However, with Coneq, the booming problem is now far less of an issue.
'I’ve decided to confer Coneq graph analysis and adjust my ears accordingly. To get used to the new environment, I’ve constantly monitored my mixed products from normal TVs for two months. Once you are acclimated to the flat sound environment, mixing becomes easier than ever, as you need to mix solely according to what you’re hearing.’
‘Korean Broadcasting System is a highly valued RSL customer and collaborating with them definitely strengthens the Coneq presence in the broadcast market,’ added Viesturs Balodis, Real Sound Lab international sales manager. ‘We are delighted that our technology significantly improved the monitoring accuracy at KBS, providing them with a more precise acoustic environment in which to create improved mixes.’
