JAPAN: Yamaha has announced the appointment of Ken Hiraoka as director of its pro audio business unit, assuming responsibility from current director Chihaya ‘Chick’ Hirai. Mr Hirai will now move to Singapore to supervise the manufacturer’s pro audio business in the ASEAN region, with plans to boost growth and expansion moving forward.
‘This change in personnel reflects our commitment to pursuing continued growth and expansion in the pro audio market,’ commented Hogan Osawa, executive officer of Yamaha Corporation. ‘Our pro audio business unit has always been active in the global market, and we expect that Ken’s international experience and track record in creating new business partnerships will provide the driving force for further expansion. Chick’s assignment to Singapore will also be an important first step for Yamaha in growing markets throughout the world, providing increased momentum in the very promising ASEAN market.’
Mr Hiraoka brings extensive experience to the position, particularly in the North American market where he has previously worked for Yamaha Corporation of America and served as president of Yamaha Canada Music. After returning to Yamaha Corporation in 2012, he became department manager of the strategic planning office where his main assignment was to forge business partnerships that would bring new growth to the company. He has also been credited with being instrumental in Yamaha’s recent acquisitions of Line 6 and Revolabs.
As the new ASEAN pro audio business director, Mr Hirai will be leading the push to boost growth and expansion in that area.
