KOREA: An RTS intercom system has been installed at the headquarters of Korean national broadcaster, Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation (MBC). MBC has a network of 18 regional stations and 10 subsidiaries and was seeking a reliable solution capable of handling the complex configurations necessary for broadcasting production and transmission.
With operations across various local stations and a need to link these operations together, systems integrator Hanynag Electronics proposed an RTS solution consisting of multiple ADAM (Advanced Digital Audio Matrix) frames netowkred together using TBX optical fibre connections. This linked the Sang-am headquarters in Seoul to the MBC Dream Center in Ilsan, as well as to other MBC offices. The system also included a large-scale VoIP solution to connect to the 18 other local MBC stations. RVON capable keypanels installed in each location are connected to RVON cards in the central intercom matrix in Seoul and operate over IP. Using the keypanels, the three frame ADAM matrices can be controlled by up to 30 different administrators, significantly helping the broadcaster to break down the barriers between the its various locations.
According to the manufacturer, the broadcaster now enjoys reliable long distance communication with low maintenance costs, ensuring smooth communications across all MBC local stations.
