L-Acoustics deployed for Bangalore Open Air metal festival

INDIA: An L-Acoustics V-Dosc rig recently formed the frontline sound reinforcement system for the second annual Bangalore Open Air metal festival, which was held in the grounds of the Hotel Jayamahal Palace on July 6th. The event saw J Davis Prosound & Lighting provide complete technical support across two stages.
With t-shirts on sale emblazoned with the motto ‘Bangalore: The Metal Capital of India’, the Bangalore Open Air (BOA) festival is being seen by many in the city as a move towards heavier guitar-based rock rather than the electronic music that has long proved popular in the region. Among the acts appearing were Iced Earth, Ishaan, Leprous, Dark Tranquillity, Animals As Leaders and Demonic Resurrection.
This year’s event marked a move away from the original venue, the Acharya Institute of Technology, to the Hotel Jayamahal Palace, which also previously hosted the Great Indian Octoberfest.
J Davis Prosound & Lighting delivered all sound, lighting, LED and trussing across the festival’s two stages, with sound reinforcement based on V-Dosc cabinets plus DV-Dosc and Arcs enclosures, all powered by LA48a amplifiers. Elsewhere, a Yamaha PM5D and three Avid SC48 consoles were used alongside Klotz and XTA DS800 active splitters. On-stage sound was delivered via Martin Audio LE2100 and LE1500 wedges while a combination of Shure, Sennheiser and AKG microphones were supplied.
Lighting included Clay Paky Alpha Spot 1200 fixtures, Elation Platinum Beam 5Rs, PR Lighting Beam 300s, Cyan 8000s and MX Prime LED washes with Conventional par cans, ETC Profiles and LED par cans plus Acme strobes and Look haze machines.
‘It was pleasure being associated with Bangalore Open Air’s second edition, and I’m sure that this will continue year after year,’ enthused J Davis Prosound & Lighting’s Santana Davis. ‘This is surely something to cheer about for the metal fans. I would like to give a big shout out to Salman U. Syed for organising such a festival and not to forget Greenstone Entertainment, Vincent Samuel, Mayur and Robin for their outstanding production job, which has really set a production standard this year. I would also like to thank my entire team for doing a splendid job and making sure there were smooth changeovers for the bands.’
