L-Acoustics K1 makes Beijing debut with Jane Zhang

CHINA: Chinese rental company LAB recently deployed an L-Acoustics K1 sound reinforcement system for a Beijing concert by pop singer Jane Zhang. The event followed LAB’s appointment as China’s first ever L-Acoustics Rental Network Agent and its subsequent purchase of the K1 line source system from distributor Rightway Audio Consultants.

Taking place at Beijing’s Mastercard Center, the concert formed part of Ms Zhang’s Personal Look tour of China. A system of 12 K1s and three Kara enclosures per side was flown, with six K1-SB subwoofers suspended behind each K1 hang in a cardioid configuration. In addition, 24 Kudo enclosures were used as side-hangs for offstage fill whilst six Karas were deployed for front fill, with a total of 12 SB28 subs.

The monitor system included 16 115XT HiQ active coaxials, two MTD 108As, four Arcs speakers and four SB28 subs. The whole system was powered by a total of 45 LA8 amplified controllers in 15 LA Raks, controlled using the LA Network Manager. L-Acoustics Soundvision acoustic modelling software was used to design the system.

LAB’s technical director, Don Lo, described himself as excited and happy to use the K1 system for the first time at the concert. ‘The K1 lived up to all our expectations,’ he enthused. ‘It was a great system with exceptional SPL and excellent sound quality. I really love the power of K1, and we are all looking forward to using it on more shows in the very near future.’
