LA India named L-Acoustics distributor

INDIA: The recent Palm India exhibition saw French loudspeaker manufacturer L-Acoustics introduce New Delhi-based LA India as its exclusive new Indian distribution company. Following the announcement the manufacturer’s sales manager Peter Owen indicated that ‘the install side is what we’re really chasing and where we see the potential growth market here in India’.
Initially established by Anil Kumar. LA India has now also been joined by new CEO Arun Kalra, who is well known in the Indian A/V industry for founding White Eagle Entertainment, the distributor of brands including Martin Audio. Alongside his new role, Mr Kalra will continue to distribute Martin Audio in the North of India as part of a recently announced agreement with Pace Communications.
Mr Owen was reportedly keen for the LA India distributorship to be made public at Palm India. ‘I’ve been looking for a new distribution set up here in India since joining L-Acoustics,’ he explained. ‘We were using a rental company prior to this but it wasn’t working as well as I felt it could. I looked around at some other distributors but the biggest thing for me is that if I go somewhere new I have to build up that relationship again over two or three years in order to get that same level of trust.
‘I know Arun very well and have worked with him a lot in the past. I know that on the installation side he’s very well connected and on rental side we’re well established anyway.’
Arun Kalra was understandably upbeat regarding the new partnership: ‘Everyone here knows the brand and anyone who is in professional audio knows that L-Acoustics is one of the top contenders. We’re very proud to be their exclusive distributor here in India. We’ve already got a number of projects in the pipeline.’
