Largest Cadac fixed-install comes to China

CHINA: A variety of Cadac mixing consoles have been selected for use at the Yanqi Lake International Convention & Exhibition Centre in Beijing. The venue recently hosted the 2016 G20 Summit, but first rose to prominence after hosting the 2014 APEC Summit. In the post-APEC summit period, the centre has been further developed with facilities and architecture said to rival the ‘best international convention venues’. The project is currently the largest fixed Cadac installation in the world and was undertaken by MYC Technology.
The continued development has led to the British console manufacturer’s desks taking pride of place in more than 10 of the 50 control rooms. The main audio console in the 5,500 sq-m conference room is a CDC eight, with an analogue alternative in the form of the Cadac S-Type modular console. The main audio console in another five small conference halls are Cadac CDC four digital desks, which are complemented by five Cadac Live1 analogue compact consoles. A further five smaller conference halls are installed with Live1s, and a further CDC four for mobile applications.
The centre’s audio connectivity employs Cadac’s MegaComms digital interconnect protocol which provides up to 128 bi-directional channels of 96kHz/24-bit audio, along with control data and clock synchronisation. All of the necessary venues are equipped with Cadac remote stage boxes - CDC I/O 6448 or CDC I/O 3216 – wired through a Cadac CDC MegaComms Router. The result is a large, flexible digital audio network with 3,072 channels of 296kHz/24-bit. The MC Router functions as the hub of a distributed network of devices, connected using RG6 coaxial cables of up to 150m. The network can reportedly comprise any combination of CDC I/Os, bridges to third party protocols (Madi and Dante) and multiple consoles. The MC Router also provides gain compensation when multiple consoles are sharing a common set of inputs. This means that any of the consoles on the network can access any of the inputs and outputs, regardless of the location.
'Following the installation, MYC has successfully built a close rapport with the owner and operator while providing an excellent service,’ offered MYC’s Hoody Hu. ‘They’ve confirmed that the Cadac products meet all of the necessary technical specs and project design. In addition, they gave positive comments on aspects of system sound quality and user experience.’
