INDONESIA: The Jakarta-based auditorium of Indonesian state broadcaster Televisi Republik Indonesia (TVRI) has been transitioned to a digital system including the addition of two Lawo mc²56 MKII broadcast and production mixing consoles. The upgrade reportedly took place as part of a pilot project to improve quality within the auditorium, and marked the first use of digital technology on the part of many TVRI operators.
Officially located in Senayan, TVRI boasts 22 regional stations and more than 6,800 employees, 2,000 of whom are based in Jakarta. Within the auditorium, meanwhile, the mc²56 MKII consoles have been installed within the both the control room and at the venue’s front of house position. The two desks are identically configured, each with 48 faders and a stagebox with 48 mic/line inputs, eight line in and 16 line out.
The project was completed by the end of December 2014, with final testing, customisation and training taking place in January 2015. ‘The flexibility and stability of our mixers gives TVRI full confidence in the new workflows with Lawo equipment,’ commented Tan Boon Siong, Lawo’s international sales and project manager, who supervised the installation. ‘We are confident that the partnership will grow and develop even further in the coming years.’
