Lawo on-air solution installed in Sydneys 2GLF-FM

AUSTRALIA: Professional Audio Technology Pty Ltd (PAT) has supplied an on-air solution based on Lawo’s Crystal console to the new headquarters of Sydney-based broadcaster 2GLF-FM. The sale follows the radio station’s move into new premises in the Sydney suburb of Liverpool.

A ‘community sized’ broadcaster catering for a broad listener base, 2GLF-FM is now based in a purpose built facility boasting two on-air studios and an MCR, plus a reception area and offices. Plans are in place to construct a further production studio later in 2012.

Fulfilling the broadcaster’s on-air requirements are two 12-fader Crystal consoles with Crystal studio frames, while a standalone Crystal frame has also been installed in the MCR as a main router.

‘As with most small broadcasters, there is often some compromise between the technical requirements versus the budgetary restrictions,’ explained PAT’s technology specialist Alan Liddelow. ‘However, we believe that 2GLF-FM have found the perfect balance with their new system.

2GLF’s Tim Miller, who was closely involved with the installation, agrees: ‘We found that it was a big change to go from a fully analogue facility to a digital one,’ he reflected. ‘Overall we are very happy with the Lawo equipment and the service we have received from Professional Audio Technology.’

PAT managing director Patrick Salloch professed himself ‘delighted’ with the completed install. ‘I am always delighted when I see small broadcasters excel at what they are doing,’ he enthused. ‘The new studios at 2GLF-FM are very impressive for a community station and I am delighted that Lawo and PAT have taken part in this success story. We are looking forward to working together with 2GLF-FM for many years to come and I congratulate them on their outstanding new facility.’
