LAX sound system installed at NBA-style sports arena

CHINA: An LAX sound reinforcement system has been installed at the Guangzhou International Sports Arena, reportedly the first basketball venue in Guangzhou to meet NBA standards.

The 18,000 seat indoor arena is the result of a joint venture between global sports entertainment presenter APG and the NBA to provide NBA-style sports and entertainment arenas throughout China. Reportedly the largest international sports and cultural arena in Guangdong Province, the 65,000 sq-m arena was installed with an LAX OP line array system to facilitate improved intelligibility.

A total of 96 speakers cover the spectator seats. The line array comprises 12 clusters of exposed speakers made up of six vertical OP4925L 12-inch full-frequency cabinets and six clusters of 0P218B 18-inch dual low-frequency cabinets. The third floor of spectator seats (an area not covered by the main loudspeakers) benefits from 24 full-range cabinets to direct sound to the area.

Elsewhere, a VIP zone is unusually covered 60 LAX M series monitor enclosures, all driven by CobraNet-equipped amplifiers, while four long-throw OP horn series speakers have been installed directly under the central screens.

The Guangzhou International Sports Arena was previously used as a venue to host the 2010 Asian Games.
