Lectrosonics marks 40th birthday

WORLD: US-based manufacturer Lectrosonics is celebrating its 40th anniversary, having been founded in March of 1971 by Larry Fisher, who has described himself as ‘very proud’.

Lectrosonics products can be found in multiple market segments including broadcast and film production, concert touring and installed sound, while the company recently expanded its product offering with the release of the Quadra IEM system.

Initially founded in Albuquerque, New Mexico, its first product was the Voice Projector series of portable PA systems and lecterns, while its first wireless mic system – dubbed Freedomike – arrived in 1975. Success in the broadcast market followed in the 1980s, the same decade that saw the manufacturer move into audio processing equipment with the Modular Audio Processor (MAP) system. Other milestones include the introduction of the Interruptible Foldback (IFB) system in the late 1990s and Digital Hybrid Wireless technology in 2002.

‘After 40 years with no acquisitions and no mergers, an energetic attitude and the spirit of innovation continues here at Lectrosonics,’ declared Larry Fisher. ‘To this day, we still manufacture everything right here in our plant, from metal and plastic parts to surface mount electronics along with final assembly and testing. We’ve been extremely fortunate and I’m very proud of the entrepreneurial culture that exists throughout our organisation.’
