CHINA: Harman Professional has announced Chinese pop pioneer Liu Huan as its new brand ambassador, representing consumer-facing brands including JBL and AKG. The agreement was announced at a special press conference at the China World Hotel in Beijing.
Liu Huan has been considered one of the leading performers in China for two decades, having achieved a string of popular hits and accolades. In 1990 he sang the official theme song for the Beijing Asian Games, named ‘Asian Mighty Winds’, alongside Wei Wei, while he performed with Sarah Brightman at the 2008 Summer Olympics Opening Ceremony. He is also a teacher of the history of Western music at the University of International Business and Economics.
Mr Huan’s new relationship with Harman was announced at the press conference by country manager David Jin, who also revealed a national ‘music campus project’ that has been jointly devised with the artist. The non-commercial project is intended to enhance the development of grass-roots music teachers and students in China. Over the next three years, Mr Huan and Haman will cooperate with major universities to conduct special events focused on music appreciation, art conservation, and skills training for prospective sound engineering students. One of the first projects is expected to launch later this year during the Shanghai International Arts Festival.
Speaking at the press conference, Mr Huan praised Harman for its ‘efforts to enhance the level of music education in China, so that more people listen to music and love music’.
