ASIA: Loud Technologies has announced major changes to its management structure in Asia, with former director of APAC sales Davwinder Sheena promoted to APAC managing director and Clifford Nathan named general manager for China. Mr Nathan will report to Mr Sheena, who will become a member of the company’s Executive Team and report directly to Loud CEO Mark Graham.
In his new role, Mr Sheena, based in Singapore, will manage all business interests, market-development strategy, and sales team and distributor relationships for Loud brands in the region. Patrick Lau, Martin Audio’s Hong Kong-based APAC sales manager, will report to him.
Following the announcement of Mr Sheena’s promotion, Mark Graham commented: ‘The APAC region is the most vibrant economic environment in the world and Davwinder’s leadership has contributed substantially to Loud’s solid growth over the last year. Through lock-step engagement with all three of Loud’s Business Units, and direct participation at the executive level, Davwinder and his expanded team will bring even greater focus and speed of execution to this critical region. I fully anticipate that all of our APAC constituents will be pleased with the growth and success that this move enables.’
Meanwhile, Mr Nathan will partner with Loud’s EAW, Martin Audio and MG (Ampeg, Crate and Mackie) Business Units and distributors to set go-to-market strategy and corresponding marketing plans for each brand on the Chinese mainland.
Fluent in English in addition to four dialects of Mandarin, Mr Nathan is based in Dalian, north-east China, where he has been managing his family’s business interests since 2007. Prior to that, he oversaw the fortunes of Digidesign (now Avid) for four years as the brand’s regional live sound product specialist having previously worked for Shaw Brothers in Hong Kong, where he digitally re-mastered an extensive back catalogue of movies.
‘I have always had an incredible passion for pro audio and the creative, high-energy people in the business,’ commented Mr Nathan. ‘When Loud approached me and I met the team, I knew I’d found a new home. Loud has great ideas for the future and in Mark Graham, they have a great leader. Everyone loves EAW, Martin Audio, Ampeg and Mackie – the brands are extremely well respected and I’m honoured to now represent all of them in arguably the most exciting pro audio market in the world.’
In response, Mr Sheena commented: ‘Clifford’s bilingual and bicultural skills coupled with his extensive audio knowledge will be a distinct asset in helping to develop our growing business in China.’
One of the key roles that Mr Nathan will be taking on is that of intellectual property management, in which he will be working closely with local government agencies in an attempt to stop the illegal manufacture of copied goods. ‘I am particularly excited with regards to this aspect of my new role and as part of this winning team I aim to make a lot of positive changes,’ he declared.
Speaking of the wider changes to Loud’s Asian structure, Mr Sheena concluded: ‘Thanks to our distributors’ tireless efforts and commitment, EAW, Martin Audio, Ampeg and Mackie sales in APAC are substantially ahead of our 2010 pace, and outpace other regions’ growth by three times. With increased in-market resources, faster decision making, stronger marketing support, and greatly intensified region-specific strategies, there’s no limit to what we will do together.’
