Loud Technologies joins AVnu Alliance

WORLD: Loud Technologies has become the latest high profile addition to the ranks of the AVnu Alliance in a move that the parent company of brands including Mackie, EAW and Martin Audio is describing as showing its commitment to the AVB standard and its adoption by the wider A/V industry. Until now the company has concentrated its attention on its own proprietary networking protocol, U-Net.
‘As an industry, we owe it to our customers to simplify and standardise networked audio and video installations through the universal adoption of AVB,’ reasoned Loud CEO Mark Graham. ‘Through our AVnu partnership and migration to AVB, Loud will position our brands and our customers well for the next phase of growth in the install, A/V and PA markets.’
Anthony Taylor, Loud’s Martin Audio business unit general manager and vice president, added: ‘Undoubtedly, networked audio/video systems and installations will be the next driver of growth in the worldwide install and A/V markets. We look forward to the time when AVB evolves to provide the advantages currently provided by U-Net in an open architecture format.’
The manufacturer is also expecting its membership of the AVnu Alliance to aid Mackie’s expansion into the mass-market. To date, the U-Net protocol has not been deployed into Mackie products. ‘The Mackie R&D team is chomping at the bit to deliver AVB-enabled products,’ enthused vice president John Boudreau.
Nathan O’Neill, Loud Technologies senior director of engineering, concluded: ‘Since AVB is built on proven Ethernet hardware, enables easy discovery of all networked devices and allows for simple audio routing, we believe it is the best solution for cost-effective, plug-and-play networked audio and video applications.’
