Marc Sharman becomes Australian Monitor GM

WORLD: Australian Monitor has promoted Marc Sharman to become its new general manager, having created the role as a result of ‘continuing expansion’. Mr Sharman is a well known figure in the company, having previously held the position of regional sales manager for the Asia Pacific and Middle East.

In his new position with the manufacturer, Mr Sharman will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the Australian Monitor brand whilst plotting its future direction. Less than well known than his time spent in Asia and the Middle East meanwhile is Mr Sharman’s long involvement with Australian Monitor parent company Hills SVL, stretching to some 15 years. During that time he played a pivotal role in building the company’s Perth office, helping to transform it, the company says, from ‘almost nothing to one of the busiest branches in the country’.

‘Marc built the WA branch from nowhere to something very significant and did so with great autonomy,’ confirmed Stuart Craig, general manager of Hills SVL. ‘He then moved into exports last year and has made a very strong impact almost immediately. With his technical knowledge and proven sales and management record, Marc has proven to be a great asset and someone with whom we can confidently grow the Australian Monitor business. Marc presented us with an excellent three year plan that showed a lot of thought and some exciting initiatives.’

Following the announcement, Mr Sharman was enthusiastic regarding those initiatives. ‘The growth for Australian Monitor in the last few years has been fantastic and we have a lot of new and exciting products in the pipeline,’ he explained. ‘In recent years we have made the very tricky jump from analogue to digital. It has not been a perfect ride behind the scenes but it was a necessary one. Where once we made products like the AMIS480P and it took us two years to do it in house, we now are releasing products like AMD digital mixer and power amps, Revolution Series DSP processors and the new versions of our XRS speakers in white and weather resistant versions, all within a two year period.

‘Besides our product roll-out, our biggest challenge at the moment is keeping up with the information our distributors and customers are demanding. We are very busy behind the scenes, improving our service delivery via our website, with new information being made available almost every day. This is a big commitment from us to be able to provide as much information as possible so that in can be accessed 24 hours a day from anywhere in the world.’
