Marquee Audio Asia designs scalable system for Nikki Beach

THAILAND: Symetrix' Radius 12x8 has been installed at Nikki Beach Worldwide’s newly opened Phuket bar and club. Marquee Audio Asia designed and installed a distributed sound system, selecting Radius because of future audio expansion over Dante capabilities and ‘great support’ from local distributor Fuzion Far East. The system is relied upon by the club to provide audio processing across multiple zoned areas.
Nikki Beach Phuket is the 10th venue operated by the Nikki Beach Worldwide chain, and the second to open in Thailand. The concept is to combine the elements of ‘entertainment, dining, music, fashion and art’ into a single environment. With this in mind, Marquee Audio Asia were enlisted to install a distributed background/foreground sound system that was ‘visually as low-key as possible, but with the functionality to perform for parties and events on a day-to-day basis without the need to hire-in equipment regularly,’ explained Marquee Audio Asia owner, Tim Cowling.
With the added need to provide flexible processing capabilities to various speaker groupings in the pool area, indoor and outdoor dining areas, VIP areas and four bars (a total of eight inputs and nearly 20 outputs), Mr Cowling ‘didn’t look much further than Symetrix' for his DSP solution, opting to use the Radius 12x8, which is scalable should further I/Os be required.
‘We have used Symetrix products many times and were certain we would have enough processing power to do the job along with the flexibility we needed,’ explained Mr Cowling. ‘The combination of the open architecture scalable Radius 12x8, one xOut 12 audio output expansion unit and six ARC-K1e modular wall panel remotes made it ideal.’
Other aspects of the design included Quest Audio HPI111, HPI18LP and HPI5 loudspeakers, which were used primarily for music reinforcement in the outdoor bars, Bose FS51 speakers in landscaped areas, and Pioneer’s DJM-2000 mixer, CDJ-900 turntables and a Yamaha MGCX mixer for the DJ. The whole system is powered by Quest QA Series amplifiers.
‘The overall design provides the good quality and level of audio required, and using a product like Symetrix makes it possible for non-technical staff to operate a powerful and sophisticated system with ease,’ concluded Mr Cowling.
