Martin Audio appoints Colin Quek as director of APAC sales

ASIA: Loud Technologies brand Martin Audio has chosen Colin Quek as its new director of APAC sales in a move that the company describes as placing high emphasis on market development. Mr Quek, formerly One System Global’s technical sales director for the Asia Pacific, replaces the long-serving Patrick Lau. He will continue to be based in Singapore.

A well known and highly regarded member of the Singaporean audio community, Mr Quek previously worked for Loud Technologies between 2005 and 2007, then concentrating on the EAW loudspeaker brand. In his new role he will oversee all Martin Audio sales activities within territories including India, Japan, China, Australia and New Zealand.

He describes his immediate priority as galvanising the Martin Audio distribution network, explaining: ‘This is an exciting role and I look forward to the prospect of moulding changes to improve sales and relationships for both client and supplier’.

Mr Quek was also keen to pay tribute to his predecessor in the role. ‘I have great regard for the work Patrick has done in building the Martin Audio brand. For me it is a case of hitting the ground running,’ he enthused.

‘Under the leadership of Davwinder Sheena, Loud Technologies’ business in the region has become so successful that each brand component now needs dedicated teams to manage the business units — and I am relishing the challenge.

‘During my term with EAW I saw Martin Audio as a competitor before becoming part of the Loud Technologies stable. And in order to be effective it was important to know my competitors nearly as intimately as I know my own brands.’

Mr Quek recently attended the Pro Light & Sound 2012 exhibition in Frankfurt, Germany, on behalf of Martin Audio and distinguished his new position with a number of MLA sales into the region, more details of which will follow in coming days.
