Martin Audio Japan formally ratified

JAPAN: UK-based loudspeaker manufacturer Martin Audio and Japanese distributor Audiobrains have formally ratified the creation of Martin Audio Japan, having first announced the new Kanagawa-based operation at the beginning of 2013. Described as ‘a new regional hub’ for the brand, it will be led by Audiobrains director Yusuke Karato.

Under the new structure, Martin Audio Japan will act as main distributor while Audiobrains will take on a dealership role. In addition, key figures from Martin Audio will sit on the new company’s board of directors, including managing director Anthony Taylor, international sales director Simon Bull, and Chris Pyne, currently serving as technical support for the APAC region but soon to be made director of sales for the region.

The news follows increasing success in the Japanese market for the MLA system with a number of high profile sales to rental companies. When the new operation was first introduced, Anthony Taylor commented: ‘The Japanese market has become one of the key markets in the world for adopting MLA technology, they’ve really understood it and embraced it. We want to ensure that customers feel we are here for the long-term to support them.’

‘We considered what we needed to do for the Japanese market and this will deliver greater business opportunities in a wider number of market segments,’ added Mr Karato. ‘We recognise that with loudspeaker technology becoming increasingly complicated, first class customer training and service support were essential.’

Mr Karato also indicated that Martin Audio Japan will eventually take an increasing role in importation, training, service support and marketing, while new dealers will be appointed to operate alongside Audiobrains. ‘There are many things to be done, but it is an exciting time,’ he said.
