Melbourne’s Concert AV chooses Cohedra

AUSTRALIA: Melbourne-based rental house Concert Audio Visual has purchased an HK Audio Cohedra line array to boost its live sound inventory. The system was supplied by Australian HK Audio distributor CMI Music and Audio.
Located in the Maidstone suburb of Melbourne, Concert AV was established by founder DJ and drummer Joe Sofo, initially focusing on DJ equipment and artist representation before expanding into installation projects and, increasingly, live music events. The company has grown rapidly in this time, outgrowing three consecutive headquarters before settling in its current purpose-built facility. It has amassed a large inventory of audio, lighting, trussing, video and DJ equipment worth approximately AU$4,000,000.
The Cohedra purchase is intended to help the company service more prestigious live and corporate events. ‘We have invested heavily into lighting over the last couple of years and now stock over 160 moving heads,’ commented Joe Sofo. ‘We can handle any light show that comes our way and have multiple smaller line arrays and ground-stack audio systems, but we needed to step it up in the PA arena with a high quality line array.
‘We are starting to do a lot more of the larger corporate work and we are being asked to quote on more and more road-shows and tours. After looking at the line array market it became evident that the Cohedra was the way to go. There is a lot of HK in the corporate A/V market which I find very appealing as we have a huge sub hire network. HK is highly regarded in both the corporate and live audio industries making it a great return on investment.’
He added: ‘Another reason for making this purchase is that we are continually being asked to provide audio for festivals over the summer and a lot of them are outside. There is no other system that performs in the wind like the Cohedra, plus it is undoubtedly one of the most coherent systems on the market.’
