Meyer Sound seeded for Shanghai tennis tournament

CHINA: Ling Hua Equipment Rental Co Ltd recently supplied a Meyer Sound audio system for the Shanghai Rolex Masters, the only ATP Masters 1000 tennis tournament held outside of Europe and the United States. The system comprised Mica line array elements and 600-HP subwoofers.
The tournament is staged annually at Shanghai’s Qi Zhong Tennis Centre, a unique venue that utilises perforated, sound-absorbing aluminium boards to reduce reverberation times and improve the intelligibility of umpire’s calls. Background music is also played into the venue between matches. A total of 16 Mica enclosures were deployed in the venue plus six 600-HP subs and a Galileo 408 processor for loudspeaker management. The system was reportedly hung in a left-right configuration at one end of the elliptical facility, with eight full-range enclosures and three subs per-side.
‘With Galileo, it was super-convenient to tune the system,’ enthused Freddy Kot, Ling Hua’s technical coordinator. ‘A Wi-Fi router connected to the Galileo 408 by a common Cat-5 cable helped me tune the system from anywhere in the venue, very quickly. The Micas and 600-HPs sounded great themselves, and even better when processed by Galileo.’
