MI Corporation to distribute APG in Korea

KOREA: APG is to be represented in South Korea by Seoul-based distributor MI Corporation. The announcement sees the loudspeaker brand bolstering its presence in Asia, having previously established itself in China.

APG is at the beginning of something in Asia,’ explained APG’s Xavier Pion. ‘We are present in China with a good distributor who is doing a lot, so Korea was an obvious next step. It’s close to China, just two hours away, and of course it’s huge market because of the houses of worship and also a very active rental business.’

As its name suggests, MI Corporation is best known for its activity within the MI sector, though it also represents a range of professional brands including Blue Sky monitoring systems, Sound Performance Lab (SPL) and others. According to CEO Mr Lee, the company’s focus in introducing APG to the market will be ‘education, the worship market and the rental business’.

‘APG is a highly respected and successful brand in Europe, but it has had little exposure in Asia,’ Mr Lee explained. ‘We consider that the market potential here in Korea is huge. For that reason we have had no hesitation in investing significantly in the brand in order to purchase demo equipment and to have some in stock as well, as we anticipate a strong demand.’

That investment equates to a complete Uniline line array system, the first in Korea. Mr Pion added that a great deal of importance is also being placed on upcoming training sessions for the distributor’s engineers. ‘One of the criteria we have for being a distributor for APG – it can be anywhere in the world – is the technical competence of the people. When we’re talking about line array you need system engineers who can set-up, tune and explain how this product was made and developed. MI Corporation has these people.’
