MI Corporation to spearhead Avid training in Korea

KOREA: Avid has named its Korean reseller MI Corporation as its new special training partner in South Korea. The appointment – spearheaded by training partner program manager Andy Hagerman – is intended to better address local-language product training, with the reseller acting as Avid’s ‘right hand’ within the territory.

The appointment comes as Avid Technology bolsters its efforts to invest in customers via high-level training with the creation of the Avid Authorised Training Partner (AATP) Program, a worldwide network of academic and professional training institutions. These facilities, with classes led by Avid Certified Instructors (ACIs), are intended to teach students and professionals the skills required to best use Avid products, including certification to aid later career progress.

However, the extension of the AATP program to serve the growing number of Avid customers within the Asia Pacific has, the company reports, raised issues of language and location. The decision to partner with MI Corporation is expected to deliver a Korean-specific solution.

‘MI Corporation has for a long time been dedicated to serving the educational market in Korea, and has done a fantastic job,’ enthused Mr Hagerman. ‘When we first started having discussions about the company becoming an AATP, it soon became obvious that they’d not only be great at training users, but also a great partner in expanding the AATP presence in Korea. We’re overjoyed to name MI as the AATP program representative in Korea.

Mr Hagerman added that the agreement will see MI Corporation assume ‘a unique role among resellers worldwide. They’ll not only act as a training centre on their own, with on-staff ACIs to support the training of their customers, but also as the head of the growing AATP community in Korea.

‘Our partners will be able to go to them to get the exclusive courses and certification exams that we offer. MI will be coordinating Pro Tools and Media Composer certified instructor classes. When schools want to learn more about what Avid can offer to their students, MI will be able to speak to them with the voice of experience, and schools can be confident that MI is Avid’s right hand in Korea.’

MI Corporation will commence its role as AATP support partner with two Pro Tools and one Media Composer instructor training events in July, cooperatively led by Avid Master instructors and MI Corporation staff.
