Midigraphics takes Powersoft in Korea

KOREA: Powersoft has named Midi & Graphics Co Ltd (commonly referred to as Midigraphics) as its new exclusive distributor in Korea, a move which sees the Italian amplifier brand join a portfolio that includes HK Audio and Apogee Electronics among others. The announcement saw Midigraphics CEO Sunmo Kang describe himself as ‘confident that Powersoft will become the best selling amplifier in the Korean market’.

The deal was revealed at Koba 2011 in Seoul, with Powersoft’s Arthur Soh underlining its importance by describing South Korea as ‘an important market for us – one of the key markets in the region’. The appointment reportedly follows long-term discussions between the two companies, beginning in December of last year and continuing at the recent Pro Light + Sound exhibition in Frankfurt, Germany.

‘With Midigraphics we hope to build the brand even more in Korea,’ explained Mr Soh. ‘They are young, very committed and very focused. They are not a brand collecting type of company. That’s what I really like about them.’

Following the announcement, Midigraphics’ Mr Kang was enthusiastic regarding his new brand and its potential in Korea, naming it ‘one of the most prestigious amplifier names in our industry’, and ‘a perfect match’. He attributed the company’s keenness to work with Powersoft to the manufacturer’s DSP engineering alongside his own staff’s ‘very solid digital knowledge’.

Mr Soh concluded that he ‘believes that it will be an excellent year for Powersoft in Korea’.
