Mipro helps to tame Singapore Zoo

SINGAPORE: A range of Mipro wireless microphones and portable PA systems have been purchased by Singapore Zoological Gardens, adding to the zoo’s existing stock of Mipro equipment and helping presenters to move freely between exhibits and enclosures. AV-Science Marketing Pte Ltd supplied and installed the systems.
Located in the Northern part of Singapore, the 28-hectare Zoological Gardens has won a string of accolades as an ‘open concept’ zoo, set in a simulated rainforest within which animals live in spacious and landscaped environments intended to mimic their natural habitats. Among the attractions are educational and interactive exhibits intended to promote wildlife conservation. The zoo’s team of visitor-facing presenters has long used Mipro portable systems for public demonstrations, leading to the latest purchase.
Included among the newly added equipment are 45 Mipro MA-101ACT infra-red remote control PA systems, complete with 45 MT-101ACT controllers, three MA-202 portable wireless PA systems plus three MT-202T and three MA-707 portable PA systems with matching ACT wireless transmitters. The MA-101ACT wireless speakers are mounted on the rafters of the outdoor shelters in each attraction. Each delivers 30W RMS and boasts up to 97 built-in UHF frequencies, ensuring that the varying attractions within the zoo do not interfere with one another.
Meanwhile, Mike Hassan of the zoo’s Sound Unit, has described himself as particularly pleased that presenters do not need to change microphones when switching between the zoo’s different locations, thanks to Mipro’s Automatic Channel Targeting feature. ‘It is good that the same transmitter can be used in up to 97 different locations within the zoo,’ he explained. ‘Each presenter can carry his or her own personal wireless microphone from one attraction to another, minimising the risk of bringing a microphone with the wrong RF frequency to the show or presentation.’
Presenters can also use the transmitters to remotely turn the system on and off or adjust the volume, while SD cards can be added as required to broadcast recordings of the featured animals.
