MLA a rock solid solution at Japanese music festival

JAPAN: MSI Japan provided a Martin Audio solution for one of the country’s biggest music festivals, Rock In Japan Festival 2016, which took place at the Hitachi Seaside Park in Hitachinaka, Ibaraki. The event was organised by Rockin’On magazine and took place over two weekends with seven stages featuring over 200 artists. Martin Audio’s MLA multi-cellular loudspeaker array was installed by MSI Japan on the main Grass Stage as well as the Park and Sound of Forest stages.
The Grass Stage included three types of audience area: the standing zone, which was closest to the stage, the sheet zone, which allowed spectators to lay a picnic rug to sit on during performances, and the tent zone, at the rear of the venue whereby attendees could pitch tents. The different sound levels required for each zone were supplied by a single MLA system.
Serving each stage wing as the main PA system were 20 MLA elements, while an additional 16 per side provided side-fill. This setup reportedly provided the required level of sound for those in the standing area, while delivering enough SPL for those in the sheet and tent zones to enjoy the music while making conversation.
