MLA the ‘talking point’ of Freq'ender Festival

SINGAPORE: Martin Audio’s MLA system provided sound reinforcement for the first ever Freq’ender Dance festival in Singapore. The system was selected by Expo AV-Insync (EAI), which provided full technical production services for the two-day event with the use of MLX subs reportedly becoming the talking point for industry professionals in attendance.
The festival took place at Infinite Studios in Queenstown and was promoted by Limited Edition Concepts (Singapore). Split into two distinct days over the course of a weekend with attendance totalling 4,500 people, performing artists included Hot Chip, 2ManyDJs, GlowInTheDark and Marco V.
EAI kept the same setup in place for both days, which comprised L-R hangs of eight MLA enclosures along with a single MLD downfill per side. A total of 12 MLX subs were then ground stacked along the front of the stage in a two four, four, two configuration. An additional eight W8LM Mini line arrays and four WS218X subs were deployed as the DJ monitoring system.
‘The end result was that everyone, including the promoters, really felt the music and were amazed at the audio quality,’ enthused Gerard Rodrigues, EAI managing director. ‘They were really blown away.’
‘With Expo AV’s experience it was easy to get the best out of the MLA system and the sound behaved superbly in the 1,600 sq-m sound stage,’ added Limited Edition Concepts director and co-founder, Godwin Pereira. ‘It was warm and non-intrusive, producing little in the way of “noise”. Instead, it delivered purity, clarity and a whole lot of thump!’
