Mordeo Bistro & Bar opts for complete Bosch solution

AUSTRALIA: The brand new Mordeo Bistro & Bar is located at the heart of the Assembly of Deutsche Bank Place in Sydney's Central Business District. The venue was seeking a high-quality audio solution capable of providing pleasant and unobtrusive background music in four separate zones, with control over the volume and source selection of each independently. To help accomplish this task, the management enlisted the expertise of audiovisual and technology consultant, Konnectus. Mordeo also sought a solution that would complement architect MBMO's stylish design. Meeting these goals, Konnectus opted for a combination of products from Bosch Communications that were installed by systems integrator, CAVS.
The main sound system consists of 16 EViD C8.2 ceiling speakers together with six EViD 6.2T wall mounted enclosures, and is divided up into individual zones for the inside dining area, the bar, and two separate outside dining areas. The speakers satisfied the coverage requirements outlined by the venue which according to Jonathon Cuthbertson, director of Konnectus, was 'no easy feat given Mordeo's location in the vacuous 15m tall space'. The speakers also satisfied the other main design concern, their soft shape design is similarly styled to the venue's light fixtures and blends into the interior design well. 'Sound is definitely there in terms of coverage, but you wouldn't even notice the speakers unless you really tried thanks to their smooth design finish,' commented Bryan Davidson of Bosch.
'Konnectus has used Electro-Voice EViD speakers time and time again over the years because they produce such quality and reliable sound. They were also an easy choice for this venue because they blend easily and discretely into the background,' stated Mr Curthbertson. 'As a result, Bosch has provided Mordeo with a sound system which not only beautifies the sound of the space, but also its looks.'
Aside from the main sound system, the venue has been equipped with an Electro-Voice RE-2-510 wireless microphone system to be used for announcements and vocal performances, and a Bosch Plena Matrix PLM-8M8, which provides control of the entire system across up to eight separate audio zones in addition to system DSP. The matrix is powered by a Plena Matrix PLM-4P220 4-channel amplifier.
‘The setup and configuration was simple,’ recalled Alex Smyth from CAVS. ‘The Amp Link cables between the Plena mixer and amplifier ensured it was quick to patch. Also, I was easily able to restrict access and set up easy to use volume controls for the client.’
‘Perhaps the biggest drawcard for Mordeo was the ability to enable live performers to use the installed sound system and be confident that the quality of the listening experience for the patrons will be outstanding,’ concluded Mr Cuthbertson.
The diner is now able to have constant background music whilst the venue is open, along with a stereo input for a DJ or small band on Friday nights via the Plena matrix. The client and all those involved are reported to be very happy with the end result.
