MSI Japan uses MLA and Apex for Japanese Whitesnake tour

JAPAN: A recent six-date tour of Japan by classic blues rock band Whitesnake saw rental company MSI Japan use a Martin Audio MLA system for front of house plus four Apex Intelli-X2 processors for signal processing. The systems were supplied by Tokyo-based distributor and fellow member of the MSI Japan Holdings group, Audiobrains.

Intended to promote the six-piece band’s last album, Forevermore, the tour stopped for performances in Osaka, Okayama, Miyuzaki, Nagoya and finally two nights in Tokyo.

‘The shows used Martin Audio’s MLA system as the main house PA, together with MLX subs and W8LM cabinets for fills,’ explained Yusuke Karato of Audiobrains. ‘We controlled the system using two laptops – one for the MLA and the other for the rest of the system.’

The Intelli-X2 processors were used as system crossovers and for signal processing, set up with the main L/R signals coming into inputs A and B, with outputs one and two going to the MLA, three and four for the subs and five and six for the W8LMs. According to Mr Karato, the processors were ‘fantastic. We also used them to measure the rooms using Wave Capture, which meant that we didn’t have to use a third laptop.’
