Multiple Horus systems installed in KBS Hall upgrade

KOREA: Korea’s leading public service broadcaster KBS has upgraded an existing Merging Pyramix installation within its KBS Hall concert venue to include three Horus units. The 1,661-seat hall is located in the main KBS complex at Yeouido to the South West of Seoul and regularly hosts prestigious music events and awards ceremonies.
The hall’s recording facilities have traditionally been based around a Solid State Logic 9000 K super-analogue console, and achieving high quality audio conversion has been described as an important factor for the KBS team.
The installation of the three Horus units is reportedly the result of extensive testing by Ko Moon Ahn and Lee Dong Hoon, who lead the main engineering team within the hall. According to Merging, the team’s workflow has gradually changed to include more mixdowns within Pyramix itself.
‘We really appreciate the improvements in A/D and D/A conversion with Horus,’ explained Ko Moon Ahn. ‘This combined with Pyramix is the ideal solution for the recordings we make in the hall.’
All of the Merging equipment within the hall was supplied by Syncfish, the manufacturer’s exclusive distributor within South Korea.
