NAMM 2011 hosts 26th Technical Excellence amp Creativity Awards

WORLD: A range of pro audio manufacturers were hailed alongside production crews and guitarist Lindsey Buckingham at the 26th Technical Excellence & Creativity Awards, which are presented by the TEC Foundation for Excellence in Audio and this year took place during NAMM 2011.
Among the winning manufacturers on the night were Harman Group, Genelec, Neumann, SSL and TC Electronic, while Mr Buckingham was presented with the prestigious Les Paul award for marrying music and technology. Other winners included the sound engineers, editors, producers and audio professionals behind Green Day’s 21st Century Breakdown, U2’s 360° Tour, Twentieth Century Fox’s hit movie Avatar and NBC television show Saturday Night Live.
Of most interest to the attending pro audio community was the Technical Achievement category, which saw the Genelec 8260A awarded Best Studio Monitor Technology, Solid State Logic presented with awards for the Duality SE large format console and Logic X-Desk, and TC Electronic pick up gongs for the System 6000 Mk II and PolyTune. JBL’s VerTec VT4886 / VT4883 subcompact line array won the Sound Reinforcement Loudspeaker Technology award, while Lexicon’s PCM Native Reverb Bundle was named the best signal processing technology. Neumann won both the Studio and Sound Reinforcement microphone categories with its TLM 102 and KMS 104 Plus models respectively.
